Build Your Own Carbon Fiber Stick - Junior / Youth
Low : Prioritizes a rapid release and explosive hand speed. Best for snapshots from the slot.
Mid : Prioritizes weight transfer to generate force. Best for wrist and slap shots from the high slot and blue line.
Hybrid : Focuses on mastering the full spectrum of shots, from quick snaps to heavy clappers.
Technique First: A higher flex (stiffer stick) can increase maximum power potential, but only if the player has the strength and technique to bend it. If a beginner uses a stick that is too stiff, they will struggle to flex it at all, which actually reduces power because they cannot engage the stick's "spring-like" energy transfer.
Beginner - Intermediate Players : Lower to mid-range flex for easier loading, puck feel and control, and developing technique. **disclaimer : while lower flex helps with control and learning, a stick that is too soft for a player’s weight can negatively affect accuracy.
Advanced Players : Higher flex is a tool for advanced players to maximize raw power.
Flex Matters: If you cut your stick, it becomes stiffer. For every inch removed, the stiffness(flex) increases by roughly 3–5 points – cutting your stick also changes the kick point if not using a hybrid.

Pro-Tip: The "Half-Weight" Rule
A common rule of thumb is to start with a flex that is half your body weight. NYX has found 40% to be a more effective starting point. From there, go lower if you want more "whip" for snap shots, or higher if you find yourself breaking sticks or losing accuracy on heavy shots.
A properly sized stick is crucial for elite performance. The correct length directly affects everything from your puck control to your shot power.
The Standard Sizing Method
While personal preference and position matter, determining your starting length is simple
On Skates: The stick should typically reach a point 1 to 2 inches below or above your chin.
Off Skates: Standing barefoot (or in shoes), the stick should usually come up to somewhere between your nose and your chin.
Length vs. Playing Style
Shorter Sticks (closer to chin or lower): Preferred by forwards for controlled puck handling, quick shots, and agility in tight spaces.
Longer Sticks (closer to nose or higher) : Preferred by defensemen for wall checks, intercepting passes, and longer more powerful shots.
Measuring Your Current Stick (Getting an Exact Match)
If you're replacing a stick you already love, measure it precisely to replicate the feel:
Stand the stick vertically with the shaft flat against a wall, bottom of the blade toe should touch the floor.
Measure from the floor straight up to the very top of the shaft in inches.
Note: Some manufacturers use different measurement methods (e.g., from the heel of the blade). Measuring from the floor to the top of the stick is the most reliable way to get a consistent length across all brands.
The Custom Advantage: Avoid Cutting & Preserve Flex
Did you know that cutting the top of your stick significantly stiffens the flex? We solve this problem by offering customized lengths tailored precisely to you.
The Problem: Cutting a standard 85-flex stick down by two inches might turn it into a 95-flex stick, changing how the stick performs entirely.
Our Solution: Order your exact, custom length. This ensures the engineered "kick point" and intended flex rating remain perfectly intact, guaranteeing a consistent, pro-level feel from day one.

Smooth (Traditional Finish Glossy/Matte) : The classic, sleek surface. A smooth blade is the industry standard and offers a clean, consistent foundation for your favorite tape job.
Sandy (Enhanced Friction) : Created through a specialized blasting process, the Sandy finish provides a gritty, sandpaper-like texture across the blade face.
3D Texture (Maximum Grip & Stability) : Our most advanced option, the 3D Texture, uses a proprietary "paper-lie" coating to create a raised, three-dimensional surface.

Grip Finish
Features a tacky or rubberized coating designed to "lock" your bottom hand in place.
The Benefit : It prevents the shaft from twisting or spinning in your hands, which is especially helpful when your gloves are wet.
Best For : Power shooters. It ensures your hand doesn't slip during the "load" phase of a shot, allowing you to transfer 100% of your energy into the puck.
The Trade-off : Some players find the extra tackiness inhibits their ability to quickly slide their bottom hand up and down the shaft for dynamic stickhandling.
Non-Grip Finish
Clear finishes (often available in Gloss or Matte) are smooth and slick, allowing for effortless hand transitions.
The Benefit : This finish is ideal for "danglers" and players who frequently shift their hand positioning while stickhandling.
Best For : Finesse players and playmakers who prioritize quick hand movements and a smooth feel over a locked-in grip.
The Trade-off : Without a tacky surface, your hand can slip if you don't have a firm enough handle during heavy shots, potentially resulting in lost velocity or accuracy.
Choose Your Match
Try Matte for a Middle Ground: If you want ease of movement but find Gloss too slippery, Matte provides a slightly more controlled slide.
Consider Texture: Our custom grips provide physical "stops" for your hands without the stickiness of a full grip coating.
